The Captain of Ports, Goa on September 11, 2026, has notified that the Aguada Sand Bar is open for all water-borne traffic from 00:00 hours on September 16, 2026, until further notice, with specified lighthouses resuming normal functioning. Mariners are cautioned regarding shoals and reefs near Aguada and instructed not to use the line between the new Aguada Lighthouse and Aguada Beacon as a clearing line. Navigation through the Cumbarjua Canal under Banastarim Bridge remains prohibited without prior permission from the Captain of Ports.
A Black and Yellow buoy has been placed to mark the Reis Sand shallow patch, and vessels must maintain the prescribed side and safe distance while navigating. Mariners are advised to proceed with utmost caution due to possible buoy displacement, rough weather and changing conditions. Navigation under the Mandovi and Zuari Bridges must be undertaken at minimum speed through the designated spans, with additional lookout and safety measures. Vessels must be seaworthy, avoid bridge passage during poor visibility, strong currents or winds, and exercise extra caution during spring tides.
